As with the Whites, the Blacks took a bit of adjusting to playing at a higher level following promotion. Amidst awful conditions of rain and wind the blacks played their first game in the new league up against a good Corsham leopards team. The first half was not the blacks best performance to say the least although the slope of the pitch and the wind was against us. At half time we were 6-0 down and some changes needed. Joe had already moved in to an outfield position during the first half and Daryl was told to abandon his holding defensive position and go on the attack in a midfield position and Ben was also told to move in to midfield and attack. Alex was in defence from goal with Ollie taking over the goal keeping duties with David and Dan S completing the defensive line up.
A few minutes in and something clicked between Daryl, Joe and Ben who suddenly made a formidable attacking unit. Passing, moving in to space, supporting each other, communicating, getting their heads up, tracking back to defend and working hard, it was all there and the two goals we scored were well deserved. The first was whipped in straight from a corner kick by Joe. Clearly Charlie Adam is not the only one who can score straight from a Corner. Joe then added a brilliant second from a superb cross by Ben.
It seems attack was the best form of defence as we only conceded two goals in the second half after conceding six in the first with a more defensive set up. Ollie made a fantastic save late on and Dan, Alex and David made some great interceptions to expertly halt Corsham attacks. If the blacks start games and play like they did in the second half then good times ahead, especially with the likes of Dante, Nick, Henry, Jude, Billy and Dan N to come in and play their part.

U9 Div 1 - CCCFC White 0 Trowbridge Tn 5 |
|
|
Green Division champions took on Blue Division champions at a drizzly Combe ground - the result looks like a spanking but the differences were actually marginal. Trowbridge were clinical, scoring all 5 of their chances. Posession was equally shared and the lads tried so hard against physical, sharp opponents. We need to dust ourselves down and get back to our own high standards when taking on the other teams who should be closer to us in terms of ability.
Will and Josh got a bit pinned down in midfield but still put in impressive shifts, Arch and Zac did really well in goal and on the pitch. Tom, Joe, Jay, Louie and Joseph did themselves proud. Onward and upward guys - onward and upward. |

U9 Friendly: Bishops Cannings 5 Blacks 3 |

Bishops Cannings 5 CCCFC Blks 3
Being a friendly, we were able to play around and give everyone maximum playing time. Playing uphill in the first half resulted in Combe doing more defensive work then attacking, coping very well with only a couple of mistakes leading the goals being scored. Cannings showed some great wing play whipping in several excellent balls in to the box for their striker to try and get on the end of. Ollie played in goal in the first half and then in midfield in the second and played fantastically well in both positions. Jude was the sitting defender at the heart of out three man defence and despite playing a lot in goal recently as our number one keeper, Jude showed his footballing abilities are equally as impressive in an outfield position. Billy is getting better and better with each minute he spends on the pitch and along side our debutant Alex made a pretty effective defence.
3-0 at Half time but in the second half we had the slope in our favour. Joe played the right of midfield and was absolutely fantastic scoring two sensational goals. The first a curler from some way out and the second following a great run into space to latch on to a throw in from Nick and catch the Cannings defence sleeping. Nicks energy was incredible, chasing after balls, closing people down and even sprinting off at 100 mph to get the ball for throw ins. Well Done Nick. Dante and Nick formed quite an attack in the second half building up a good understanding of how each other plays but do need to get their shots away when they can which was the only thing that stopped them putting in the perfect performance. Dan Sutton played magnificently throughout the whole game along with David making a fantastic debut making it harder then ever to pick a starting line up with such talent on offer. Good friendly but next time we play there is 3 points on offer so a different match all together I am sure. Well Done U9 Blacks.
Kind regards
Jason

U9 Friendly: Whites 1 Devizes 1 |
|
|
The lads had a training match against Devizes (away) to bed in new players and tactics and did themselves proud.
In the first third - Will was flawless in goal, Zac and Joe adapted to the wing back roles exceptionally well and Rory and JoshW made very impressive debuts. Several chances were carved out but no-one showed the urgency required to notch. Zac did hit a screamer into the top corner but the ref had blown his whistle for a foul.
In the second third - Jay and Joseph showed that they too could raid on the flanks. Joseph made a fine debut. Will and Josh took control of the centre - at one stage Will beat every player on the pitch and then forgot to shoot! We started to get on top but couldnt quite get the goal.
In the last section - the game was nip and tuck, with Toby and Tom looking secure at the back. Louie started knitting play together in midfield but we conceded a poor goal near the end. Gotta get those clearances away guys!! With time running down - Rory went on a long run, popped the ball off to Josh who crossed the ball for Archie to display his natural striking instincts by crashing the ball in without breaking his stride. Well done guys - a good reward for not giving up until the very final whistle. |

U9: CCCFC Blacks - Runners Up in League!!! |
|
|
CCCFC 0 - Bradford Town B 2.
The Blacks clinched a well deserved runners up spot in the Yellow Division with a very good performance against a strong Bradford Town Side who nabbed the title. The game was very close throughout with some excellent defensive performances from Ben and Daryl at the back. Jude was once again excellent in goal and when we were defending, Josh made it three at the back and made an impact in an unfamiliar role. Bradford were the attacking team in the first half but being a goal down at half time we pushed Josh in to midfield, Ben further forward leaving Dan Sutton as the last man and we provided more of a threat. Dan was absolutely fantastic coming on at half time and really showing how strong the blacks squad is becoming. Henry and Ollie were again strong in midfield with Ollie showing some great dribbling skills. Henry being unavailable for the next two weeks is certainly a loss to the team. Dante was simply fantastic up front and showing his lighting speed in attack. Rory was his usual energetic self, combining effort with great quality. 12 points from 6 games is more then decent so a big Well Done!
The very best of luck to Josh and Rory who now join the whites squad and a warm welcome to David and Alex who make their blacks debut this weekend.

U9: CCCFC Whites - Joint Champions!!! |
|
|
CCCFC White 0 Larkhall 1
This much delayed match finally got underway - the lads hadnt played since 3rd of December and it showed slightly. Our physically imposing visitors required a win to share the title with us and Warminster - and ultimately they got it. It was probably deserved - I think they will be a force in the years to come - but there are loads and loads of 'if onlys' attached to this one.
We didnt create loads of chances. but we did create 3 very good ones which I would have bet my mortgage on being put away in any other match. The guys stopped when there seemed to be a foul in the build up to the only goal of the game - something you should never do. Rather than dwell on this stuff - other than to say Skipper Will was oustanding once again, but the man of the match mantle goes to Toby - I would like to congratulate the following players on winning the title in the very first opportunity they possibly could.
Will - role model, class.
Josh - skillful, determined, class
Jayden - terrier, focussed, class
Louie - hard working, technically excellent, class
Zac - dynamic, dangerous, fab goalie too, class
Joe - quick, run all day, class
Toby - brave, tough, class
Tom - powerful, imposing, class
Alex - silent assasin at the back, class
Archie - clinical striker, great goalie, class |
