U12 Cup - CCCFC Blacks 2 v Steeple Ashton 9 Print

15 minutes into the game and Ryan W was slotted through with only the 'keeper to beat - low left footer into the bottom RH corner of the goal. 1 nil Combe! Was there a cup upset on the cards! Unfortunately not - the goal seemed to wake Ashton up and a big kick over the top behind our defence saw Ashton equalise. This tactic seemed to serve them well throughout the game - quickly Ashton were 3-1 up.

Regan was by far the busiest 'keeper in the 1st half - some outstanding saves - praise from the opposing managers for his performance at the end of the game.

A big clearance down the right wing from Richard to Kez saw Ryan W slotted through again with only the keeper to beat. 3-2 Combe - still in it! 2 minutes until half time. Ashton score again just before HT. 4-2 HT.

A good 1st half performance - Harry on his debut commanding the centre of mid-field. The defence team of Steven, Scott, Sam, Richard and Kieran performed well. Josh continues to improve linking well with Kez down the RHS. Fred solid in defense when he came on. Ryan W had by far his best half of the season seemingly all over the pitch - good defensive play and attacking. Ben, Ryan and Craig causing some mischieve up front!

The second half started well and from the noise made by the Ashton managers they were certainly worried. 7 minutes into the 2nd half and Ashton extended their lead following a goal mouth scramble with the ball some how finding itself into the LHS of the goal. Another well taken goal this time 5 minutes later saw Ashton extend their lead further.

Ryan W had 3 further attempts on goal and each effort brought good saves from the Ashton keeper.

9 - 2 FT.

The boys battled well today and should be proud of their performance against a team 13 places above them in the league. There are real signs of improvement with one spectator commenting about one of our passing moves down the RHS in the 2nd half saying 'it was the best move of the game'. Despite the all round show - Ryan W got man of the match for his 1st half - defensively much better in mid-field.

U12 - Melksham Town Yellow 9 v CCCFC Blacks 3 Print

The ball came back from the LHS to the edge of the box where Kez received it - one touch out of his feet and it was in the moment it left his right boot. 1 - nil up after 3 minutes!

The overload in mid-field worked well for 10 minutes while the lads were still full of energy. On the break Melksham looked dangerous and scored with a strong high shot into the back of the net. Regan had no chance. 2 minutes later and they scored again. Heads went down as the goals then went in at regular intervals. 6-1 down at half time.

A change of tactics with Steven brought to right back and Joe - in his debut - at left back. Scott and Sam in the centre of defense. A bit more shape to the defense but after 36 mins we were another goal down. Sam covered well in his role as sweeper again stopping many attempted break aways. Scott was strong winning several high balls and clearing well. Steven tracked back well and was solid in the second half - not diving in. Joe was a tower of strength at left back. Nothing got passed him and his tackling was immense. Fred was strong in midfield and his wanders up front saw Clarky put through on a couple of occasions. Kez again was outstanding on the RHS of mid-field and although carrying an injury towards the end of the game, battled well. His tracking back was the reason he was given man of the match. His 2nd goal came 10 mins into the 2nd half from a ball threaded through the middle to him (despite the linesman flagging for Ryan W being off-side although not interferring with play) Kez kept his head and took the goal well. The referee over-ruled the linesman and the goal stood.

Kieron - on his debut - battled well in the middle of mid-field. Josh did well on the right side of mid-field and when he got his chin-up put some made some slide rule passes through. Ben toiled upfront and got more involved in the game towards the end of the second half.

2 of the goals were ceated down the LHS. The 1st came from a pass to Kez on the edge of the box who blasted it home from 18 yards. The 3rd was a result of a good effort from a powerful strike by Ryan W which was well saved by the Melksham keeper. Fortunately Clarky was on hand to pick up the spoils and stick the ball home from 3 yards out. Ryan W had several good efforts from darting runs - his best  effort from 18 yards out flew just over the bar. He should be pleased with his efforts which led to 2 of our goals.

A much improved performance in the 2nd half saw us lose the half 3-2. Some dodgy managerial tactics and at least 3 lucky goals from Melksham meant the score line flattered Melksham. 9 - 3 the final score.

Bring on the return game at Combe!

U12B - CCCFC 1 Bradford 12 Print

2-0 down after 6 minutes!! Bradford turned out to be a good team!

However it was 2-1 after 10 minutes - there was hope. A ball worked in from the wing from Ryan W landing on Josh's foot and was whacked into the back of the net. Unfortunately it didn't last long - a couple of minutes later we were 3-1 down and the goals continued to go against us at regular intervals. 6-1 at half time!

We regrouped at half time. Defenders refreshed and bang 3 minutes later it was 7-1! Despite Stephen tracking back and chasing he just could not get any where near the Bradford's attackers. Scott fared slightly better and made some crunching tackles. Sam did a good job again at sweeper and dropped off well from the keepers big kicks.

In centre mid-field the trio of Fred, Ryan C and Josh battled well and there were some good passing moves which shows promise for future games. Lewis contributed well and his energy levels were unsurpassed and he made a good contribution in the middle of mid-field.

Craig battled well up front and late in the game when he came back for the ball he looked threatening and dangerous. He would have done better against a lesser defence. Ben did well up front and harassed the defence.

Tom had little chance of saving many of the goals and made many saves. His head stayed up despite the score line.

The 2 outstanding players of the game were Kez and Ryan W on the RHS and LHS of mid-field respectively. Their runs down the channels led to our best opportunities, Towards the end of the game a ball in from the LHS found Kez a few yards out - and on a different day, different team - he would have found the back of the net but a good save from the keeper kept him out.

The guys kept going until the end and shouldn't be too disheartened by being beaten by a team which should be in the league above. Bradford were a good team.

Goals - Josh.
Mom - Kez for his hard work down the RHS flank and chasing back helping defend.

U12 Black - Frome 4 CCCFC 3 Print

It started so well. 2-0 up in the first 20 minutes. Goals early on from Ryan Wilson and Kez. A new formation saw CCCFC dominate the game for the 1st 25 minutes. Ryan Wilson's position on the left handside of midfield meant he was seeing more of the ball - his sything runs down the left hand side causing many problems for Frome. Craig M continued to cause problems upfront. A dodgy penalty awarded in the last few minutes of the first half was well saved by Regan in goal. As CCCFC tired Frome looked dangerous on the break. Some good defending from Scott, Sam and Richard saw us end the half 2-0 up.

The scare of the penalty towards the end of the 1st half had knocked CCCFC's confidence and Frome quickly regained a goal. The defence held strong and there was no repeat of the last game where Frome had scored further quick goals. Stephen was moved into the back line to strengthen the defense. CCCFC got a goal back bundled over the line and claimed by Fred.

Another dodgy decision from the referee adjudged Sam to have passed back to his 'keeper. Chaos ensued an an unfortunate own goal made it 3-2. It was beginning to look like the OK Coral but the defense held. Ryan Clark and Kez were able to get the ball forward but the team were beginning to look even more tired. Alex toiled well on the RHS and made many saving challenges. The relentless onslaught from Frome was too much to bear and they were soon 3-3.

At 3-3 it would have been a fair result but Frome got in behind our defense in the last few minutes down the RHS and squeezed a winner past Regan - 4-3.

On a warm September morning the guys were beaten by a side more determined to win, with greater depth in their squad and fitter. The guys continue to show spirit and hopefully they will be rewarded with a win.

Goal scorers: Ryan Wilson, Kez and Fred
Mom: the whole team - for their spirit and never say die attitude.
