CCCFC U11 WHITES V MARSHFIELD LIONS |
|
|
It seemed to take a few minutes before the Colts realised that the whistle had blown to start the match, Marshfield were clearly hungrier for a result in the opening play creating several chances with one finally finding its way in the net.
Luckily our heads lifted and with some great play the ball found its way to Jo who then struck the ball into the goal area with Aaron finding the net from a skillful flick off the side of his boot, more positive play followed involving Tom, Adam, Ryan & George again with Aaron finishing to take the Colts 2-1 up at half time.
Shortly after the start of the 2nd hald Marshfield equalised from a penalty, once again Combe answered with a cracker from Joseph leaving the goalie with no chance, then the game slipped from our grasp, Marshfield kept their spirits high and went on to win the game 3-5 despite some missed opportunities from Charlie, Lewis & George. |

Despite Colts Efforts Bradford Were Unstoppable...
This was the match we had all been waiting for after being defeated away to the league toppers the Colts were determined to even the score.
Jordan was tested from the off by a very strong attacking force, powerful 20 yard strikes were coming in on target and despite a number of cracking saves Bradford scored the first of many within 10 minutes.
The Colts defense were tested to the full with each of them displaying some great timed tackles and clearances keeping the Bradford strikers at bay until they scored their 2nd with less than 10 minutes of the first half left.
We put some great play together in midfield resulting in a number of very impressive strikes on target that tested the Bradford keeper to the limit but left us without a goal.
Jordan certainly had his work cut-out throught the match and displayed such skill that the visiting team even complimented his efforts, despite some moments of brilliant play Bradford proved too strong.
Final result CCCFC 0 Bradford 7

A great result after a long rest & even longer grass...
Finally the players were able to run off some of the energy they had stored up over Christmas and the New Year and in the first 10 minutes there was plenty of it on display, Combe were moving and passing the ball all over the pitch only to be stopped by very strong defensive play by Warminster.
The Warminster keeper saved Combes first couple of attempts and then came some fantastic play from Aaron C who found Lewis who back heeled it with Joeseph putting a great cross into the danger zone for George to score CCFC's first.
20 minutes in and Lewis picked the ball up from the Warminster keeper's kick and struck CCFC's 2nd into the botton left corner, and just 5 minutes later after some great skill from Adam, Joe, & Charlie Lewis scored his second taking the score to 3-0.
With only 5 minutes of the first half remaining Tom put in a lovely long cross which Charlie skillfully controlled and placed in the Warminster Goal within seconds of our goal Warminster were on the attack only to meet a fantastic defensive effort from Adam, Tom,& Ryan with Harry having to make a perfevtly timed sliding tackle to put a stop to their striker. This clearly motivated the Colts with excellent play throughout the field from Adam, Alex, Finn & Joseph finally reaching Lewis, George & Aaron m in a great display of passing with aaron m scoring the Colts 5th goal just before the half time whistle. 5-0.
We started the second half with the same determination of the first half but came up against a very strong warminster defence time and time again with some breaks going against us only to be stopped by some great defensive play from Adam and Tom, minutes later and Finn put the ball through to Joe who made a great run and scored the Colts 6th of the match. The Warminster Goalie continued to impress with countless saves but again our attack proved too much and following a great run from Joeseph who found Joe up the wing and after a bit of ping pong Charlie scored his second taking the game to 7-0.
It was still full of action right upto the final minutes and even Jordan was forced to make a cracking save pushing the ball just around the post, from Jordans goal kick after Warminsters failed corner the Colts were off again with both George & Charlie scoring goals in the last 2 minutes of play taking the final score to CCCFC 9 Warminster High. Reds 0 with a hat-trick from Charlie... |

The Colts Make it a Sunday to Remember....
Even before kick off the Colts displayed true professionalism when asked to hold 1 minutes silence in respect for remembrance Sunday which bonded the team spirit and gave Dilton one of their hardest games of the season.
In just 5 minutes Lewis "nutmeg" Kelly won the ball from the Dilton defence turns, strike's straight at the keeper but with enough power to force it between his legs for the Colts first, 3 minutes later and Finn displayed some amazing skill by taking it around two players without the ball touching the ground and putting the ball into the danger zone for Aaron M to plant Combe's 2nd in the net.
Ellis, Adam & Alex turn on the style and demonstrate great control by pushing the ball forward with some superb passing to the feet of Finn who once again fed the ball into the danger zone this time finding George to put Combe 3-0 up. Dilton did not give up broke quickly several times in the half only to be stopped by our sure footed captain, Tom with Adam Joe & Alex in support. The last 5 minutes evened up and the Colts defense was tested for the first time but between Ryan, Lewis & Charlie the ball rarely made it past our mid-field, with just minutes to go Tom stikes a cracking free-kick to force a great save from the Dilton keeper.
The Colts come out even stronger in the second half and within minutes Charlie strikes the bar for the second time for Joe to bury the rebound in the net for our 4th goal, moments later and following a superb run from Joseph, Ryan has a great shot on goal saved displaying real pressure. Half way through the half and Ryan slips the ball through to Joseph who makes one of his legendary runs up the left wing and floats the ball in front of the goal for Aaron to secure his second goal and puts the Colts 5 goals ahead.
Jordan is kept a little busier for a while but most attempts on goal did not make it past the Colts skilled defense then a quick break and some stunning passing from Harry, Charlie & George put the Dilton goal under pressure resulting in Aaron M forcing in Combe's 6th and Aaron's "Hat-Trick" well done Aaron.
5 minutes to the end of the game and following some more great team play throughout the field with Jordan narrowly missing a great opportunity Joseph cracks the ball goal bound and scores one of the most well deserved goals of the season, With seconds to go George places a super corner straight across the face of the goal forcing the ball in with a little help from the keeper resulting in a confident 8-0 win for the Colts.
I must add that I could have written a book on this match with every single player demonstrating true team spirit it was a pleasure to see all of them play some of the best football of the season without exception, leaving Steve with a very difficult decision for man of the match.....Well Done Lads. |
