The colts took the lead on 11 mins in an entertaining game thanks to a great volleyed finish by James from a Matthew corner, this was exactly what they deserved after a fine start to the game where they played some terrific football, notably by Dan who started really brightly and played some good passes. Unfortunately against the run of play Melksham grabbed an equaliser just before half-time.
The colts started the 2nd half really well and created some excellent opportunities to go back into the lead, but it was Melksham that got the next goal and it looked as though we might rue those earlier chances. However the guys dug in and eventually got their 2nd goal when Matthew scored with a neat finish. The colts were really going for it now and Eddie got the 3rd when his shot went in off the post. More chances came and went and it looked as though the 3 goals might be enough, but Melksham battled on and nicked an equaliser with only 2 mins remaining. The colts didn't let their heads drop and with only a minute left on the clock James played a terrific through ball and Eddie showed his pace and composure to notch the 4th and winning goal. What a fantastic game in horrible cold wet conditions. Thank you to the parents for your support & help.
Man of the match - Unable to pick an individual from a great team performance that showed great spirit, attitude and endeavour, well done to all of you.

A very lethargic first half from the colts ensured they were 3-0 down at half time, although Eddie was unlucky when his left foot shot struck the post.
The half time team talk from the coaches needed to be more forthright than normal and the guys must take credit as their second half performance was much improved. Joshua G scored a fine goal to reduce the deficit. The Corsham keeper had a fantastic game with vital saves denying Eddie, Jamie, Joshua G & Matthew. As the colts pushed forward trying to find a way past the goalie, Corsham scored 2 late breakaway goals which gave them a somewhat flattering scoreline.

A tough fixture was waiting for the guys today after the xmas break as they faced joint league leaders Worton.
The colts put in a good performance and battled well throughout the game. Worton opened the scoring after 10mins and added a second after 20mins. 2-0 at half-time. Worton quickly grabbed a 3rd goal within 2mins of the the second half starting, however the guys didn't let their heads drop and James scored a fine individual goal. The goal lifted the colts and they pushed on looking for more goals. Worton's 4th goal came with only 5mins remaining as they caught us on the break. There were some fine performances notably from Tom & Joshua G in defence. Well done to all.
Man of the match - Joshua G, excellent in defence

What a game today at home to Warminster. The colts put in a performance of commitment, passion & energy not seen before this season.
Due to a bout of illness and unavailability within the squad, we only had 10 players to face the league leaders in the cup. A big thank you must go to Warminster who agreed to play the match as 10 v 10.
The colts got off to a great start when James latched onto a weak goal kick and calmly slotted the ball past the keeper after 10mins, Warminster got an equaliser on 20mins when they scored from an acute angle. The second half was a tense affair with the game going end to end, The defence of Josh G, Alex, Heather & Warwick tackled like trojans and were putting their bodies in the way of every shot, both Josh G and Heather making terrific goal line clearances, at the other end Harry, Jamie, Charlie & Eddie had half chances to nick the winning goal. James in midfield covered every blade of grass and tackled anything that moved and was brilliantly supported by Eddie in the unfamiliar position of central midfield. 1-1 at full time. In extra time it was more of the same by everyone, Jasper was making save after save and had a great game. No more goals were forthcoming, onto the dreaded penalties. Jasper managed to save one of the Warminster penalties, but alas it wasn't quite enough, James and Charlie both scored from the spot.
A terrific performance by everyone, buoyed on by fantastic support from the parents. Well done and thank you.
Man of the match - All 10 of you !!!!!

A disappointing defeat today for the U11's.
Melksham took the lead after only 6mins, Joshua G thought he had equalised after a smart move from the re-start, but his effort was harshly ruled out for offside. The colts struggled to clear the ball from the danger areas and this allowed Melksham to double their lead. Dan reduced the deficit with a tremendous strike from outside the box that gave the keeper no chance. 1-2 at half-time.
Unfortunately the colts started the 2nd half slowly allowing Melksham to add 2 more goals to their tally, it was at this point that the colts seemed to wake up and started to pressure the Melksham players, the last 20mins saw the colts camped deep in the Melksham half, Joshua G scored a fantastic headed goal from a Dan corner, Joseph showed a great touch and a cool head to finish off a fine individual effort, it was now game on. The colts tried everything to snatch a deserved equaliser, but could not find the back of the net again, due mainly to some fine defending from the Melksham team.
Man of the match - Dan - Fantastic goal and great passing.

The colts made it 2 wins in a row with a good result away at Derry Hill.
After a sluggish first 10 mins the colts managed to break the deadlock with with a neat finish from Matthew, but within 5 mins Derry Hill equalised. A fantastic headed goal line clearance from Joshua G prevented Derry Hill from taking the lead. Goal number 2 came after a terrific cross field pass from Eddie set up Matthew who unleashed an unstoppable 20 yard shot past the keeper. Jamie netted the 3rd with a fine close range finish. 3-1 at half time.
The 2nd half started brightly for the colts as they played some good football and kept Derry Hill pegged back in their own half. Goal 4 was courtesy of an unfortunate own goal from a Matthew corner. Goal 5 was from a direct free kick, Eddie lined up the shot from at least 25 yds out and struck a great shot into the bottom corner, James was rewarded after another all action display with goal no.6 following a jinking run and finish, he was also unlucky not to double his tally moments later when his shot hit the bar, Matthew completed his hat trick when he scored the teams 7th. Derry Hill to their credit kept going and scored a fine 2nd goal.
A good performance guys, keep it going !!!
Man of the match - Matthew - Great hat trick and all round performance.

A game of 2 halves was never more apparent than today's visit to Melksham. The 1st half was a tight affair and at times quite scrappy so therefore it was not a surprise that it ended goal less.
The 2nd half started as though we had put out a whole new team as the colts all of sudden started to play football, it was a totally different game and the rewards soon came. Dan opened the scoring with a thundering shot from an indirect free-kick after the Melksham keeper had handled a back pass. Matthew quickly added a 2nd with a neat finish, Eddie notched 2 more goals before Jimmy completed the scoring with a terrific header direct from a corner. When needed the defence stood firm with Josh Barson having his best game of the season to date.
Man of the match - Matthew - changed the game in the 2nd half with some great wing play.

We played league leaders Warminster for the 3rd time this season, having been beaten quite easily in the 2 previous encounters the colts knew they had to raise their game this time and raise their game they certainly did, the attitude and commitment shown by all the players was absolutely fantastic and this was arguably their best performance of the season to date.
The colts took the lead on 12 minutes when Eddie picked up a loose ball in the centre circle and then used his tremendous pace to leave the defenders trailing, he then showed great composure to easily slot the ball past the advancing keeper. Our visitors tried desperately to find the equaliser, but the defensive trio of Alex, Joshua G and keeper Jasper were in no mood to let that happen. 1-0 at half time.
The 2nd half continued with Warminster still trying to find a goal. They eventually succeeded when a cross was touched over the line. 1-1. Warminster then went looking for the winner, but again the colts were not going to let it happen without a fight, a draw looked the likely outcome, however a cross that some how swerved its way into the top corner of the net for the winning goal was a bitter pill to swallow after all the hard work. The colts still managed to create one more chance to score after a great passing move started by James when he released Matthew up the right wing, after going past a couple of players, Matthew picked out Eddie with his cross who hit the ball first time on the turn, unfortunately the ball went just the wrong side of the post. A great effort by all the players who showed with this performance how good they really are, more of the same next week please !!!
Man of the match - A difficult choice with outstanding performances from Alex, Joshua G, James, Eddie & Jasper - but JASPER just gets the verdict with a great all round goalkeeping display.
