NWL Div2 U15 CCCFC 4 - 4 Chiseldon Print
Season 15/16 - Under 15

A fantastic game of football was witnessed this morning at YK, both teams played the game in a competitive spirit and tried to play football, but were seriously hampered by the extremely long grass in one half of the pitch. The colts became the first team to take points off runaway league leaders Chiseldon, who had won 7 out of 7. It was the visitors who opened the scoring on 11mins when their striker got in behind the defence to finish well. James equalised with a lovely diving header from a Dan free kick after 21mins, this kicked us into gear as until then Chiseldon were the better team, Eddie put us in front on 26mins when James set him up to hit a fine shot into the bottom left corner. The lead was extended further on 29mins with a bullet header by James from Luca's corner, unfortunately we let Chiseldon back in the game with more sloppy defending just before half time. Chiseldon started the 2nd half strongly, but it was the colts who scored on the break on 42mins to make it 4-2, Eddie picked the ball just inside his own half and went on an amazing run leaving the Chiseldon defence in his wake, before rounding the keeper and scoring from a tight angle. Chiseldon came back at us and we battled bravely to keep the 2 goal cushion, but we let ourselves down by not clearing our lines when needed, resulting in increased pressure, this finally told as Chiseldon grabbed a 3rd after a bit of scramble to set up a grandstand finish in the last 10mins. We managed to hang on until the last 2mins when Chiseldon nicked their equaliser, there was still time for Joe P to hit a superb shot from 25yds that looked like it was in all the way, but somehow the keeper got a hand to push it around the post, we finished really well with a couple of corners but could not find another goal. A draw was probably the correct result in the end. Well done to all.

Man of the match: James - 2 excellent headers and lead by example with his effort and endeavour.

Next game: Malmesbury at home in the league cup 1/4 final on Sunday 29th Nov kick off 10.30am.
