U14 Marlborough Youth 1- 6 CCCFC Print
Season 14/15 - Under 14

A fantastic response today from the colts after their disappointing game last time out. We ran out comfortable winners against a team that defeated us 3-0 at home earlier in the season.

We played up the slope and into the wind in the 1st half and managed it superbly by keeping the ball on the floor, James opened the scoring with a excellent back post header from a Dan corner on 11 mins. Dan then extended our lead on 18 mins with a good finish. Marlborough were using the wind to try and knock long balls in behind us, but Tom T had an excellent half and mopped up most of what they threw at us, on the odd occassion they did get through Jasper was on hand with a couple of fine saves to keep them at bay. Eddie and Dan had good opportunities to score but were unable to take full advantage. 2-0 at halftime.

We continued to play some great passing football and really should have put the game to bed early in this half, but again we missed some good chances, I thought we were going to be punished for these misses when Marlborough capitilised on our one and only moment of indecision in defence to score a soft goal. The guys regrouped and soon found themselves camped in the Marlborough half, another fine goal from Dan on 50 mins relaxed the players and took the edge off the game, James then arguably scored the goal of the game when he took a square pass from Matthew and cut inside to unleash an unstoppable left foot strike from outside the box. Eddie finally got on the scoresheet with 2 great goals on 62 & 67 mins, the 2nd of which involved a lovely 1-2 with Matthew before thundering a terrific shot past the keeper.  All in all an excellent performance today against a fairly physical side. Well done to all.

Next game: Wootton Bassett at home on Sunday 19th April - 12.30 kick off.
