U14 Highworth Twn 3-0 CCCFC Print
Season 14/15 - Under 14

We always knew it was going to be a difficult game today against Champions elect Highworth Town, but I have to say our performance in the first was really promising. We matched them all over the pitch and were a little unlucky not to have scored. We showed great desire to try and play football, but the pitch didn't help either team to do this, it was very firm, uneven and bumpy.

One of the things we talked about at half time was to not let our performance levels drop, unfortunately this is exactly what happened after only 2 mins, when a one of their players burst through a couple of weak tackles to score. The colts responded well and pushed forward at every opportunity, but we were unable to really produce a clear cut chance for our forwards. As a result of pushing forward this meant we left one or two gaps at the back and Highworth capitilised on this with 2 breakaway goals. A harsh scoreline as the game was a lot closer than this reflects. There was a lot of positives for us to take from this game and the boys should take heart from the fact they ran the league champions very closely today, hopefully we can take this belief into our final 4 games.

Next game: Liden away on Sunday 29th March kick off 1pm
