U12 League Cup: CCCFC 1 Melksham Hurricanes 4 Print
Season 12/13 - Under 12

The colts were hosts to undefeated Div 1 leaders and current cup holders Melksham Hurricanes in today's League cup encounter. This was always going to be a very difficult game, but the colts gave a good account of themselves. They battled and worked tirelessly as they constantly snuffed out the Melksham attacks. After 20 mins there was very little between the teams with neither keeper having a great deal to do. On 24 mins a long ball was played forward and Eddie gave chase using his speed he managed to get to the ball first and after a tussle with the defender he nutmegged the keeper and from a tight angle was able to poke the ball over the line. 1-0 an upset was on the cards, unfortunately a slight lapse in concentration on 28 mins allowed a Melksham player to squeeze the ball past Jasper. 1-1 at half time.

The 2nd half started pretty much as the first, with the colts showing good spirit, after 5 mins Melksham scored with a good header from a corner. The colts then went off the boil for 15 mins and allowed Melksham to extend their lead to 4-1 which is a little flattering for them, however in the last 10 mins the colts seemed to find a second wind and Archie was very unlucky not to score when his fine first time shot was well saved. Today was an excellent team performance with tremendous work rate and spirit rom everybody, you all showed that on your day you are a match for any team. Remember this and take it into the rest of the season Well done.

Man of the match: James - awesome defending in his new role of centre back today.

Next match: Frome Town away - Sunday 9th Dec 10.45 Kick off.
