U9 Orange Division: CCCFC Whites 4 Trowbridge Town Cougars 2 Print
Season 12/13 - Under 9 Black & White
The Whites showed what they are made of against good opposition for the second week running, coming from a goal down to beat Trowbridge Town Youth Cougars and move clear at the top of the Orange Division table.
Both teams went into the clash with two comfortable league wins under their belts and Bradley almost gave Colts the lead inside 30 seconds when his close-range effort hit a post. Trowbridge duly opened the scoring at the other end soon afterwards but the home midfield was well on top and two clinical finishes from Matthew turned the game on its head.
Some great passing and movement from Luke, Bradley, Brandon, Toby and Matthew carved out more openings but it was Trowbridge who scored next to take the teams in level at half-time.
The visitors were kept at bay by rock-solid and composed defending from Josh and George after the break, giving Colts the chance to push on down the slope and claim the three points on offer.
Max put the home team ahead for the second time, ramming the ball into the net following some determined play from Tom, before Brandon grabbed his first goal of the season with a shot from distance that proved too hot for the keeper to handle.
Matthew and Max also struck the goalframe and every player contributed to another impressive all-round performance, which helped maintain Colts’ 100 per cent league and cup record going into the half-term break.
