U9's Blacks win CCCFC tournament Print
Season 09/10 - Under 9

U9's won their first competitive home tournament with a strong performance against FC Chippenham on Sunday. After opening their campaign with a comfortable 2-1 win against Chippenham Town Youth, courtesy of 2 goals from skipper Matthew, Colts wearing their away kit of yellow and black, collected 3 more points with a dominating display against Calne, the winner from midfielder Jimmy. In match 3, the boys produced their worst performance and were comprehensively beaten by FC Chippenham 2-0, courtesy of 2 classy strikes. The boys needed to win their last match to top the group and did so, with a solitary Eddie strike. In the quarter final, a fine solo run from the halfway line by Joseph saw him square to Matthew on the edge of the box, who drilled his shot into the bottom corner and although far from convincing, Colts were beginning to get their act together. In the Semi-final, we faced new opponents in Deerswood and despite the Bristol side striking the upright, the defence of Alex and Joshua G were proving a backline hard to breach. With no Golden goal, the match went to penalties where Sebastian showed how important he is to the team, saving 2 and forcing the other spot kick wide. Joshua stepped up to cooly thump his penalty in the top left corner and ensure Colts played FC Chippenham in the final. This time though, the team pressed from the first whistle and went ahead with a mesmerising run from Joshua, who carried the ball from deep in his own half, beat 2 FC players and finish with aplomb in the bottom corner. Eddie had a chance to put the result beyond doubt but his workrate and commitment, epitomised the difference between the teams' displays, in the 2 matches against a talented FC Chippenham side.

Player of the Tournament - Matthew top scorer for Colts with 3 goals.
